Sri Chockanathapuram N.NARASIMHAN , born in 1963 at Chennai , Tamil Nadu hails from a music family. His father Sri S. Narayanan is a well known musician who is a great devotee of Saint Thyagaraja. His father runs a music school , “Sadhguru sangeetha vidhyalaya” at west mambalam. Sri is very devoted to saint Thyagaraja. On every poosam nakshatra
being the birth star of the great saint Thyagaraja pooja & carnatic kutcheri are conducted in the above mentioned vidhyala.


Sri even at a very tender age was attracted to “Laya” and was able to reproduce the “Sorkattu” ( Fingerings ) played by great doyens with ease even without learning , a naturally gifted hand. His parents identified his potential at early age. He studied and graduated in Central Carnatic Music College, Govt of Tamil Nadu. While learning itself , he had keen ears and wonderstruck while listening to stalwarts especially E.M.Subramaniam, N.govindarajan and Dr. T.K.Moorthy.


Sri was fortunate to get accepted as disciple of Sangeetha kalanidhi Dr.T.K.Murthy
for advanced training. His Guru Dr.T.K.Murthy follows the tradition of the tradition of
Sri Vaidhyanatha Iyer. Sri started performing at the age of 20. He eventually came to the limelight very fast as he got unique opportunity to play along with his guru Dr.T.K.Murthy.


The secret behind his fast and continuous play is that he played hours together for many namasankeerthanam, Bhajans , thiruppugazh, thevaram. Sri is a regular performer in leading sabhas and music venues. He is a B grade artiste in AIR, Chennai. Sri has been conferred with various prestigious awards and prizes. He has been toured extensively all over India. He has also performed concerts in European countries , Re-union Islands, Mauritious. Sri has to his credits several cassette realeases from major companies providing accompaniments to many great artists.

Sri had accompanied his father and many leading musicians. He had played for great vidhwans (vocal, violin, saxophone, mandolin, flute , veena) and current young musicians.
